You know there’s a techie deep down inside each of you. Who can resist electronic travel gadgets? I know I can’t! Here are a few of my faves.
Monster Cable Mini Travel Power Strip: I go everywhere with this item. Seriously. It fits neatly in the side pocket of my backpack and takes up hardly any room. I’ve pulled this sucker out at airports, in hotel rooms, and it has even come in super-handy at tech conferences like SxSw and BlogWorldExpo. The best part? The price. Read the review…
Moshi Voice Activated Travel Alarm Clock: Yes, voice activated. Do you really trust those hotel wake-up calls when you travel? When asked, only 18 percent of business travelers trusted a hotel clock to wake them up. You might be sleeping in Las Vegas, but that’s not a gamble worth taking when traveling. No more wake-up call roulette – if you want to know if the alarm is set, just ask Moshi, and she will put your mind at ease. You will always be woken up at the correct time. Plus, she’s affordable at less than $20.
Mobile Endeavor HX1: This is one of the best Bluetooth handsfree devices I’ve put my hands on. This is more of the more expensive items on my gift list, but well worth it for quality and convenience. Read the review…
Flip Ultra Video: I have both the Flip Ultra Video and the Flip Mino HD. The classic Flip Ultra can take bumps and accidental bangs, making it sturdy to put in anyone’s hands. Simple to use, pocket-sized camcorder with one-touch recording and digital zoom. Holds 60 minutes of full VGA-quality video on 2GB of built-in memory; no tapes or additional memory cards required. Convenient USB arm plugs directly into your computer for easy viewing and sharing. Built-in software lets you easily e-mail videos, upload to YouTube and AOL, and capture still photos from video. Watch videos instantly on TV with included cable.
Vivitar DVR 510: The powerful DVR packs loads of features into easy-to-carry technology. Take this Vivitar DVR everywhere, day and night, thanks to its waterproof casing and Infrared Night Vision mode. I tried out this product, and while it is easy to use, the quality of the item isn’t as good as The Flip. On the upside, the product is less than half the price of its competitor making this a bargain during the holiday season.
Fotobox: This easy to use photo slideshow creator requires no installation, making this a handy gadget for travelers using multiple computers along their journey. It offers loads of customization options, including voiceover narration, effects, and instant uploading to YouTube. Just simply plug this gadget into a USB port and get started. Item is available for around $80 at honestech.com.
