Top Resorts for a Couples Retreat in Bora Bora

I don’t know about you, but every time I see that funny commercial for the movie Couples Retreat starring Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau, I want to pack up and head to a tropical resort.

St Regis Bora BoraYes, the movie itself looks funny, in a cheesy way, but the setting is to-die for. The question is, where is it? The film site is actually The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort, but here are numerous resorts in Bora Bora that would make for a romantic getaway or couples retreat. Here are the top ten (with direct links), according to Tripadvisor:

  1. Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora
  2. InterContinental Thalasso-Spa Bora Bora
  3. The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort
  4. Hotel Bora Bora
  5. Sofitel Bora Bora Motu Private Island
  6. InterContinental Le Moana Bora Bora
  7. Blue Heaven Island
  8. Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort & Spa
  9. Hotel Maitai Bora Bora
  10. Le Meridien Bora Bora

How does one actually get to Bora Bora?

view from mt otenanuBora Bora is conveniently connected to Tahiti and the rest of French Polynesia by plane. Air Tahiti operates daily inter-island flights between Papeete and Bora Bora, with a flight time of approximately 50 minutes.

For security reasons, Air Tahiti does not operate night time flights and you may be required to overnight in Papeete, depending on your flight schedule. Once arrive to Bora Bora, an airport greeter from your hotel will be welcoming you and take care of your boat transfer to your resort. Be sure to have this arranged in advanced.

I’ve dreamed of going to Bora Bora, but each time I look at the flights involved and the cost of the entire package, it has always been out of my reach. I’d love it if you’d share your experiences of traveling to Bora Bora. Where did you stay? What did you do?

There’s just something about that pure turquoise water that calls to me. I wish I could just run away to the South Pacific and leave all this behind. Beautiful photos.

I would love to be there right now too. Oh, the clarity of the water that probably helps clear the mind too!
