I just discovered your website on yahoo and see that you've obtained some wonderful thoughts in this post. I specifically appreciate the way you've been able to stick so very much believed into a relatively short submit (comparitively) which creates it an thoughtful post on your topic. IMHO you put lots of great information in this upload not having all the filler that most bloggers use just to make their posts look longer, that is ideal for a gal like me who doesn't have a great deal time cause I am generally within the go. I frequently get so frustrated with so many with the final results in the main SE's due to the fact they frequently appear to mostly be filled with filler content that frequently isn't very sensible. If you don't mind I'm going to add this post and your weblog to my delicious favorites so I can share it with my family. I look forward to coming back again to read your long term posts too.

That fedex the laundry is a new one to me, but I suppode that most of my trips are quite short so I don't get through all the clean clothes. I'm signing up for HARO - that's an interesting idea, I'll see if it is helpful in getting my blog noticed if I get quoted for something

Good advice whether you are writing or not! I love the "laugh a lot" advice. Sometimes we forget that laughter is the best medicine for what ails you! Thanks for this post.

I also believe that laughter is one of the best medicines. Great article and review on someone who clearly lives life to the fullest and has managed to make himself his job too.

I followed Peter's Twitter reporting on "the real Mardi Gras."
Brilliant concept - homerun use of social media.
You're a lucky travelingmama that you got to celebrate Mardi Gras w/Peter & meet him - love reading your perspective in this post.

Shannon, I enjoyed reading about the lessons you learned from Peter Shankman. I especially like #1 - laugh and #6 - have a blast. It's so easy to get caught up in the duties of travel writing that we forget to laugh and have fun. My goal this year is to stay in the moment, even if I am researching a trip for an article.

Shannon,

Great post. I can attest to #8 -- the volume of content he created in his short stay with us was incredible. And he was a trooper on the Rex float fixing up the Live Stream and making sure it all worked. When I first met him I was impressed by what he had done. But after spending a few short days with him, I'm more impressed by how he does it and I don't mean technology, etc. I mean his personal commitment to "working for you" to use a quote from one of his emails to me during the Mardi Gras Experience project.

We could all stand to be a bit more like Peter.

And thanks to you for all you did to make MyMardiGrasExperience.com a huge success. You rock.
