A few weeks ago I went on a wine buying spree at my local Leblanc’s Payless grocery store here in Zachary, LA. My father in law has been sending us a much appreciated buttload of red wine through the WSJ Wine Club, however, our stock of white wine has been sorely depleted through the hot Louisiana summer months. I always look for affordable wines around $10 per bottle. One of the bottles I chose was an Argentina wine — a 2009 San Telmo Esencia Torrontes. Torrontes is an Argentina white wine. This particular bottle had been chilling, waiting for the perfect moment to be enjoyed. I opened the bottle and poured a taste into a glass, swirling the golden liquid. The bouquet was distinctly floral, and even my husband, a beer lover, could detect the floral scent. I took a sip and found it crisp with a hint of citrus. This is a winner in my book, great for enjoying with friends or paired with a light meal.
