She’s a Duran planner, blogging about the band, her concert plans, and keeping up with the group via social media channels like Twitter. I’m more of an impromptu Duranie, deciding less than two hours before the concert in Baton Rouge that I NEEDED to be there (and because I had my B-12 injection that morning). And I brought along two teens so that they could be introduced to the greatness that is Nick Rhodes, whom I have jokingly dubbed my Edward Cullen.
I showed up to the Baton Rouge River Center and bumped into Paige and her man. Earlier in the day Paige tweeted me using the hashtag #DuranLive. So we tweeted each other because we have this twomance thing going on with each other. I’m a social media freak and think I have this online thing down, especially for where I live in Baton Rouge, where people who sell themselves as social media experts have less than 1,000 followers on Twitter.
I can’t even express how much it warmed my tech loving heart to see a LIVE Twitter screen at the Duran Duran concert. Oh my. If I wasn’t already in love with them, then this would have sealed the deal.
And then I saw Paige tweet me on the screen.
And then her man tweeted.
And then I saw @wsellers tweet.
And I had a moment. My eyes teared up because I was about to see Duran Duran in concert. And I was tweeting with people I knew at the concert, but I couldn’t see them in the sea of faces. And I was about to see MY Edward Cullen purse his lips as he played his keyboard, glancing across the crowd with a serious look on his face that only The Nick Rhodes can pull off.
And before the concert began I saw #DuranSocial pop up.
What the heck was that?
So after the amazing religious experience I had with Duran Duran, I returned home to begin my research. And the most information I could gather was summed up on ShePosts.com –
It was a great idea. Do you know of any bands doing anything similar?
Did you get to see Duran Duran live while they were in the US?
