These boots are both attractive and comfortable. I never had a ‘break in’ period with them. However, I’m returning them ASAP. My first several forays into the Whites were just find. However, over the weekend, I went on a 4 mile, rainy day hike. My feet were soaked through in no time. Not only wet, but SO wet that I rung at least an 1″ of water into a paper cup from my soggy socks. The number 1 reason I bought these boots was their goretex lining. It just plain and simple didn’t work. Beware.

I agree that GORE-TEX is a solid brand that you can rely on for rugged territory. I like how well you balance your reviews providing tips on the fact that these may not be well suited for colder climates.
