My mom’s friend sent me the link to this beautiful video of Amazing Grace being sung in Cajun French, written by David E. Marcantel and performed by Southwest Louisiana singing group, Les Amies Louisianaises.
If you’d like a moment to get a feel for the simple life of South Louisiana, be sure to check it out. While I may be a travel writer and author of international destinations, I think Dorothy Gale said it best: “There’s no place like home.” Feel free to check out all my stories about Louisiana.
Should you be unable to view the video, here’s a direct link to La Grâce du Ciel.

I was listening to KPFT radio in Houston Saturday morning. It was about sunrise and I was at the grave of my grandson and this song was on the radio.
I was absolutely moved by the beautiful words, which I in no way understood. I have never heard Amazing Grace sung more beautifully than at that time and place.
Thank you so much.

I found the website information for Musique Acadienne at the end of the video and ordered the CD.
Thanks again.

My dad use to have a cassette tape of Amazing Grace sung in French – it was either given to him my his niece Janet Mott or he heard it on the radio and recorded it. My question is: Is this the version that Janet is a part of? Dad told me this was the first professional/public recording of Amazing Grace in French. Dad is gone now, now sure what happened to the cassette. I didn’t grown up with that side of my family but have fond memories specifically with Janet as teenagers in our high school years.
Where can I purchase the cd of amazing grace in french.
I’m from Cecilia, and this song will be sung when I die. This let’s me know where I really belong, I see my roots in your video. Thanks for the place and song I’m from.
