Disclosure and Review Policy
Shannon has two jobs. She has been employed in the fire service in Louisiana for more than 15 years. This provides her family with benefits (health, retirement, etc) and a steady paycheck. She is also a freelance travel writer and owner of Lane Media, LLC. Travel writing cannot be counted on to pay the bills due to the inconsistency of payment terms, publishers claiming “It’s in the mail” and other BS. Travel writing does, however, provide Shannon a means of saving for college for her kids, sending her kids to summer camp, allowing her a means to support her favorite charities, and basically put shoes on her family’s feet. It also provides Shannon a way of staying sane in the crazy world of an emergency service worker.
As a travel writer and author, Shannon has been given opportunities to travel to destinations that she otherwise would never have had the chance to experience (given her household income). Although sometimes these experiences may have been financed by a third party, these third parties understand that Shannon will provide her honest opinion about their property, destination, business, or product and no amount of Champagne will sway her opinion (although you may certainly try).
The ads represented on any of Shannon’s sites do not constitute any endorsement or recommendation. They are simply advertisements to get a logo or message in front of a consumer and they go towards hosting fees and conference expenses (Blogher, SxSw, Blogworld, etc).
Endorsements and/or recommendations by Shannon, Lane Media, LLC and any of its affiliates are honest and unbiased by any form of compensation. Shannon DOES NOT accept monetary compensation for any review or editorial placement on any of her sites. That is what the advertising section is for. Shannon will not endorse or recommend a product unless it is an item she’s been using as a consumer already or something new on the market that may be beneficial to consumers such as herself. Note to PR and Marketing Companies: Sending a product to Shannon does not guarantee a review or mention.
Approved/Recommended properties, destinations, businesses, and products that have passed the super-secret inspection standards set forth by Shannon may be listed in a special section on her sites and in her guides. Any business claiming to be recommended by ShannonLane.com will be listed in the official recommendation section. These recommended businesses may display an official badge on their website and/or physical business entrance.
Giveaways are sometimes held on Shannon’s websites because she, like any other consumer, likes the chance to try and win something. Plus, it drives traffic to her sites.
The views of Shannon Hurst Lane are her personal opinions and do not reflect the views of her employers, affiliates, partners, advertisers, family members, BFFs, or any random stranger she may meet and blog about. Shannon Hurst Lane and Lane Media, LLC and any of its heirs cannot be held liable for any damages, injuries, or dissatisfaction in the purchase or use of any product, lodging, transportation, activity, business, or anything else mentioned by ShannonLane.com, Lane Media, LLC, or any of its affiliates. By visiting this website, you agree to this policy forever and until the end of time.
